Regular maintenance of your dishwasher is the key to a long life without repairs, leaks, or emergencies. Cleaning, selection of detergents, and correct loading ensure a trouble-free operation of the unit in any chosen mode.
Loading rules for your dishes
All household items loaded into the pull-out baskets should be installed so that the water freely washes them from all sides, and then just as freely flows down.
To prevent the user from experimenting with the placement, the manufacturer recommends the use of a guideline diagram.
Full-size and narrow units are equipped with 2-3 boxes for loading. This is convenient for standard programs when the lower sector is cleaned more efficiently. And also for separate modes, such as “delicate” when only glass or crystal glasses are washed which are placed in the upper basket.
Under and above the boxes there are beads that spray water. During operation, they rotate, so it is important to monitor the placement of tall objects to prevent breakage of the sprinklers.
Sometimes it is necessary to wash things that do not fit in the lower compartment. Then remove the upper basket, place the items conveniently and run the machine with one basket. Deep containers are placed deep down so that the water flows freely down the walls.
It is believed that the lower compartment of the machine is treated more aggressively and at higher temperatures. Therefore, plastic and the most fragile serving items are usually placed at the top. The correct arrangement of dishes is an important step in the daily use of the machine.
Instructions for cleaning the filters
The filter system – usually 2-3 filters installed in the lower part of the washing chamber – should be cleaned regularly, without waiting for complete clogging with dirt.
Grease is not washed out completely, and sooner or later the filters will have to be cleaned, even if you load almost clean dishes and use cleaners that definitely contain grease-dissolving substances.
Procedure:
– Unplug the machine. If there is no access to a socket, then turn off the circuit breaker on the switchboard.
– Use a cloth or foam rubber sponge to remove any residual water at the bottom.
– Unscrew the upper part and remove the filters.
– Disconnect the fine filter.
– Clean all elements with a brush and rinse with detergent.
Put back in place by inserting and screwing in the reverse order.
When cleaning, use toothbrushes and special kitchen brushes, powders, gels, and baking soda.
If white streaks or deposits are noticed, the lime cleaning procedure is necessary. Use compositions that dissolve plaque, and if there are no special means, then ordinary citric acid.
Rules for regular maintenance
Not only filters can suffer from dirt, but also the walls of the chamber, sprinklers, and the compartments of loading baskets. The easiest thing a user can do is to wipe all parts by hand from time to time with a damp cloth using a light detergent solution.
Preventive chemical cleaning of the dishwasher will help protect the internal parts from mold, greasy deposits, or other dirt.
Procedure for performing the work:
– free all the boxes from the dishes;
– fill the powder tray with dishwasher detergent;
– select one of the long programs, e.g. “standard”.
Water temperature during washing should be above +60 °C, so that the cleaning agents have the maximum effect, and all contaminants are dissolved and flushed down the drain. It is recommended to practice dry cleaning at least once every 4-6 months.
The door is usually cleaned by hand, treating carefully not only the front glass but also the seals.
For the drain system to work properly, you need to rinse the hose for drainage. It is unscrewed, rinsed with antifat detergents, and fixed in place.
Putting all the parts back in place, it is necessary to tighten the cap nuts and check the tightness of the connections before turning them on. If the work is not done carefully, during the washing a small flood may occur.
