The dryer leaks

The laundry hanging all over the apartment on strings is a thing of the past. A new kind of household appliance is replacing it – dryers. Dryers are particularly gentle to the most delicate fabrics. Different drying programs can cope with the drying of down jackets, jeans, wool, and cotton fabrics.

Modern models of dryers are equipped with moisture sensors, which allow you to stop the drying process when the set parameters are reached. As a result, you will never over-dry the clothes, and you can choose how you want to dry the laundry: in the closet or for ironing.

Under iron mode, the laundry stays slightly damp (5-10% moisture content) for easier ironing afterward.

Special drying mode allows you to do without further ironing – things are immediately ready for further use. With a special frame, most models of dryer design allow installation on top of the washing machine.

This makes the dryer even more convenient to use. You only need to reload the laundry from one compartment to another.

Structurally, dryers can be divided into two main types: exhaust and working on the principle of condensation of excess moisture.
The moist air coming out of the drum goes directly into the room. As a result, the humidity in the room where the dryer is installed may increase.

Therefore, when installing it, it is necessary to take into account that the room can actively ventilate. Sometimes such dryers with special pipes are connected to the hood.

In more modern models, a system for condensation of excess moisture is used. The resulting water flows into a special tray, where it is then removed manually or by a special pump. In this case, the dryer must be connected to the water supply for intake of cold water needed for cooling and to the drain for automatic drainage. Such dryers are very convenient to use, since they do not violate the microclimate in the room, but have a slightly more complicated device.

Sometimes it happens that the dryer leaks – a puddle of water forms under it. The reason that the dryer leaks can be a negligent connection to the water mains, destruction of gaskets, and input hose. Such leaks are usually immediately detectable on external inspection.

Dryer drain pump. The dryer also leaks if the outlet pipe is clogged or the drain pump is faulty. In dryers that are not equipped with an automatic water drain system, a special alarm should go off when the pan is full of water, telling the owner to pour out the water. If this system malfunctions and the water tank overflows, the dryer leaks.

Modern dryers are quite complex machines, and any mismatch or malfunction of the many sensors, valves, and electronic control modules can cause a situation in which the dryer leaks. It can be extremely difficult to determine the cause of the malfunction without special knowledge and operating skills. Therefore, if you notice that your dryer is leaking, or if there are any oddities in its operation, you should immediately contact a service center.
