You have habitually loaded laundry into the washing machine Electrolux selected the program and started washing. But the machine has not blocked the hatch and did not start washing. And on the display of the washing machine, the error E 40 is lit.
Deciphering the error
Code E40 in Electrolux means that there were problems with the door lock. In the service mode (which is used by the diagnostic wizard) the error can be displayed as E41, E42, E43, E44, and E45. All 40th errors report problems in the UBL circuit, but the second digit of the code helps narrow down the range of possible problems.
Error E40 – when you can fix it yourself
Occasionally, error E40 can be handled by your own efforts. Here are the cases:
– The hatch door is not properly closed. Try opening and closing the door again. The error may disappear.
– One-time failure of the control board. The board may have “frozen”. Overload it by unplugging the washing machine for 10-15 minutes.
Probable malfunctions requiring repair
If the door of the hatch is closed tightly, and disconnecting and unplugging did not help, then there was a breakdown. Here is a list of malfunctions that are the cause of forty errors in Electrolux washing machines.

The door locking device has burned out or been mechanically damaged.

Probably burned out elements on the circuit board in the locking device circuit. If you see code E43 in the diagnostic mode, the cause is in the door interlock control triac. The code E45 indicates the failure of other elements of the module or tracks in the circuit of the locking device.
3. Wiring and/or contacts between the control board and the locking device
The wiring often suffers from the vibrations of the machine (wires are chafed). Contacts rot or burnout. In the private sector, mice and rats damage the wiring.
