The No Frost refrigerator models are equipped with a fan. It is located near the evaporator in the freezing chamber. Normally it drives the cold air through a special system of ducts into the refrigerating compartment, due to which the cooling is carried out in the chamber.

Quite often the users turn to refrigerator repair oceanside with a complaint that the fan in the fridge No Frost does not turn on. As a rule, the conclusion is made on the basis of the fact that this very fan cannot be heard. Occasionally, customers manage to get to the unit and see that there is no rotation.

When the problem can be solved independently

The absence of fan rotation without any breakage in the No Frost refrigerator can be caused by the following reasons.

The door in the refrigerator is not closed. When the door is open, the refrigerator will turn off the fan because the cold air will escape from the chambers and there will be no point in cooling. The door must be closed for the fan to turn on.

Past failure of the control board. Sometimes the control board can “hang”. To overload, it, disconnect the refrigerator from the power supply for 10-15 minutes. If after turning on the fan will begin to work normally, the matter was in the failure, which you have successfully coped with. There is no need to go to the workshop.

Probable malfunctions that require repair

Unfortunately, most of the cases when the fan does not work are related to the breakdown of the refrigerator. According to the experience of the masters of refrigerator repair oceanside, most often, the fan does not rotate because of the failure of the following nodes.

Failed to defrost system No Frost
When a No Frost refrigerator is working, frost forms on the evaporator in the freezing chamber. To prevent it from turning into a “coat”, a heater is activated by the defrost sensor: it melts the frost on the evaporator, and your No Frost operates without manual defrosting. If one or more parts of defrost system (fuse, defrost heater, defrost timer, or defroster) are out of order, it does not turn on and frost builds up on the evaporator. As the fan is located near the evaporator, in case of defrost system failure the formed ice blocks the rotation of the fan blades and it stops rotating. Often the blades break because of the ice blockage, or the fan motor burns out. This is the most common breakdown when the fan does not work.

Faulty fan
The fan motor has burned out due to long use or defrost system failure, so the fan does not rotate.

Light Button Burnt Out
The light button in No Frost refrigerators has three contacts, one of which leads to the fan. Normally, the fan only turns on when the door is closed and the light is off. Often the contacts in the button are burned out, and then the fan either does not switch on at all or “works in turns” (for example, it works for several cycles, then stops switching on and after some time starts working normally again).

Control module defective
Is one of the elements defective or are burned out or oxidized tracks or contacts in the circuit of the fan or defrosting system. Board failure is caused by power surges or high humidity conditions in which the refrigerator operates.

Damaged wiring or contacts in the fan circuit
Probably due to prolonged use or high humidity, the contacts are burned out or oxidized. In private homes, mice or rats chew through the wiring.
